Benefits
Every coffee is cupped and selected by a licensed Q Grader, and each one scores 86 points or higher.
We roast in small batches and ship within days, so the coffee arrives at its best.
Each Volume pairs two farms around one idea, with a playlist to go with it. It's a small ritual that changes every month.
Step 1
Grind 22 g of coffee medium, just before you brew. Set your cone dripper up with a paper filter.
Step 2
Heat 350 g of water to 200–205°F. That's 1 gram of coffee to 16 grams of water.
Step 3
Bloom with 66 g of water, three times the coffee's weight, and wait 45 seconds.
Step 4
Pour the rest slowly and evenly, finishing around three minutes. For more sweetness, try 1:15, about 330 g of water.

Volume 10 puts two lots from the same women-led network side by side, both dried whole inside the cherry. Same process, two very different cups: one bright and floral, one deep and spiced.
Every Volume is:

Grown by women in Muyinga Province and sold through JNP Coffee, which pays them a premium for quality, directly.

From women growers in Gitega Province. Dried whole in the cherry, which is where the jammy depth comes from.

The ripe cherry dries whole on raised beds, with the fruit still around the seed. That's where the jam and the fuller body come from.

Songs for the women who cleared the land, and the ones still growing on it. Chosen by Dani Stewart to match the mood of the Volume.
Education
Most coffee is either washed clean of its fruit or dried whole inside it. Natural process is the second kind. The ripe cherry is laid out on raised beds and dries for weeks with the seed still inside.
All that time with the fruit gives the cup more body and a jammy, fruit-forward sweetness. That's why one of these tastes like raspberry and the other like blackberry and plum.
